MYTEK PROS / CONNECTED OPERATIONS
Image-Based Meter Reading and Visual Checks
Create a visual record of an existing meter, gauge or fixed inspection target.
Plan your project
01 / THE OPPORTUNITY
Keep a visual record of legacy readings.

Facilities managers, equipment operators and industrial data teams
Some useful values are visible on a dial or display but have no practical data connection. Image capture can preserve the original observation, but turning that image into a reliable number or pass/fail result requires its own recognition method, validation and exception handling.
A scoped service can capture close-range images on an agreed schedule and deliver them for human review or a separately validated reading workflow.
- Keep source images available to verify a reported reading.
- Assess a retrofit path where an electronic interface is impractical.
- Make unreadable targets and missed captures visible.
APPLICATIONS IN PRACTICE
Meters, gauges and fixed inspection targets.
Illustrative scenarios for facilities teams and operators.

Facilities: a legacy utility meter has a readable display but no available data interface.
ObserveScheduled close-range images of the approved display.
ActA reviewer confirms values or checks a separately validated recognition result.
ReviewReading history, original-image references and unreadable intervals.
Billing-grade accuracy and automatic OCR are not assumed.

Industrial plant: an existing gauge is difficult to include in routine data collection.
ObserveTime-stamped gauge images from a suitable fixed mount.
ActAuthorized staff reviews the indicated value and follows the established operating procedure.
ReviewConfirmed observations, missed images and visibility issues.
The camera does not measure pressure or provide a protective shutdown.

Commercial equipment room: staff wants to compare visible indicator states between visits.
ObserveImages of an agreed, non-sensitive inspection target.
ActReview changes and request an on-site check when context is unclear.
ReviewObservation log and outstanding verification tasks.
A picture does not diagnose the underlying equipment condition.

Manufacturing pilot: a fixed character label needs a feasibility check for automated reading.
ObserveControlled target images and a separately developed recognition result.
ActCompare results with human-reviewed samples before considering operational use.
ReviewPilot agreement, unreadable examples and conditions outside scope.
Custom recognition is development work, not an out-of-box certified quality-inspection service.
03 / FROM SIGNAL TO RESPONSE
From observation to action.
Define the signal, the connection and the person responsible for the next step.
View measurements & event details
- Scheduled images received and missing intervals
- Readable versus uncertain image samples
- Manually confirmed or validated extracted readings
- Recognition agreement against reviewed samples when recognition is included
A DEFINED SERVICE SCOPE
What Mytek Pros can help deliver.
Mytek Pros can assess a visual-reading pilot for existing meters, gauges or fixed targets at a San Diego facility. The scope tests lighting, mounting, image delivery and reviewed sample readings; automated recognition is separate work, with uncertainty flags and source images retained for verification.
Explore service planning for San Diego and California projects. Installation, handover and ongoing support are agreed during discovery for the selected equipment and site.
View planned service deliverables
- Check target visibility, mounting distance, lighting and environmental suitability.
- Configure permitted scheduled, button or supported input-triggered image capture.
- Deliver images to an approved review or storage destination.
- Pilot manual reading or separately scoped recognition and retain uncertainty flags.
THE RECORD YOU KEEP
Your reporting scope.
A proposed visual-reading report can show received images, confirmed values, exceptions and data completeness. Automated text or dial recognition is a separate integration and must be validated for the actual target. Consumption, threshold alerts or quality decisions require approved calculation and review rules; they do not arise from image capture alone.
Operating boundaries
Native, ready-made OCR is not assumed. The capture device is not a calibrated pressure instrument, revenue-grade meter or safety interlock. Images and inferred readings must not replace required inspections or regulated records without proper validation.
04 / DISCOVERY & DESIGN
Before installation.
Confirm compatibility, placement and operating responsibilities for your site.
What we’ll work through
- Suitable close-range target and indoor installation conditions
- Compatible wireless connection and image receiver
- Defined image access, retention and review responsibilities
- Separate recognition model or application if automated extraction is requested
Share your site and existing systems to discuss the installation scope.
